The Dark Knight is a momentous film. Acting more like a crime picture, The Dark Knight explores the impact of vagrancy and the duality of man, with tragedy often being the end result. This month’s shot is representative of the film’s dark current, as the creature of the night stands on the fruits of his labor. Bearing the weight of his city on his shoulders, and mourning the loss of a fallen love, Bruce Wayne broods over the uncontrollable nature of his antithesis and the unpredictable repercussions that follow. His grieving frame, juxtaposed against the rubble that buries his love, is a signal of insurmountable defeat. For this one moment a man, an ideal and a legend ring hollow.
